Defining a problem:solution and giving it the context of a name:word that has specific meaning helps people think productively.
Language itself is useful like that.. its foundational to every system. It makes no matter of open:proprietary outcomes, because both have structural value. What matters is coherence. Avoiding blabber.. non-functional words.
Surveillance capitalism is a term that points at a problem.. if the outcome of looking at the problem does not lead you to the structural solution of "self-Sovereign ID", then I would like to know what other outcome restores control to the appropriate party that enables overcoming that problem. The problem is structural.. people are assets, defined as such, on a balance sheet that does not belong to people personally. Surveilling assets is what owners do. ID slaves have no power of control over that, because they have no structural control as liabilities under management.
Surveillance capitalism is produced by commercial activity that reiterates the data structure of a legally identified entity. Every entity is either legally defined, or is evading legal definition. The assumption of a "Right" to evade legal definition when the definition itself is adversarial is our moment.
You can not have a "Human Right" w/o legal definition presently. A person is not a person functioning under the law until such person is legally defined as such. Applying "Nationality" and "legal identity" to all people on this planet is the stated mission of the UN, and each Sovereign signatory to the establishment of documents defining "Universal Declaration of Human Rights" and corresponding "Rights of the Child"... article 7 & 8 point at impetus directly: https://www.ohchr.
Which brings us to the question "What is Sovereign source authority?" if not the structured legal notion of the Rights of a Human to have Rights prior to a permissioning ceremony, as recognized globally by all "civil" systems of law?
A self-Sovereign ID is the instrument of personally defining "Sovereign source authority" in practice... self-Sovereign technology is built with structural respect for the design of a relationship between parties demonstrating self-Sovereign authority with integrity. Sovereign law in a "civil" Society is in need of this transition in order to overcome the proclivity towards, and perhaps overwhelming obviousness of "surveillance capitalism".
Both China and the USA are dominated by the psychosis of totalitarian surveillance capitalism.. for security sake, leveraged to produce monetization opportunities. Its war, selling weapons, adulterating human life into a risk-based commodity in need of precise management... like cattle. ID branded on a cattle management system can only be overcome if the source authority of Sovereignty itself is redefined.
I would not hold out hope of that in China. But in the USA, if this does not happen, those founding documents made of words are useless.
Fake words have that much value.
